“One of the objectives of the delegation was to build the profile of the Greater Whitsunday region amongst key parliamentarians in Brisbane.

“The other was to discuss regionally specific topics including a biomanufacturing precinct in Mackay; unlocking the potential of the Abbot Point State Development Area and profiling the next steps associated with the Isaac Resources Excellence Precinct in Moranbah.”

Ms Porter said the delegation hosted four key meetings with Ministers and MP’s in Brisbane, and hosted an event attended by 80 parliamentarians, industry leaders and key decision makers from across South East Queensland.

“The role of delegates was to tell the story of regional greater possibilities to parliamentarians.  To be the real face of our region and to communication our vision and ambition of an economy that is evolving rapidly and what that means to the Queensland economy.

“It was an incredibly useful trip, with significant progress made in the strategic discussions around biomanufacturing; tourism and Abbot Point and GW3 looks forward to following up with government officials and leading more delegations in the future,” Ms Porter said.
